LEVALLOIS, France, July 10, 2014 – After the first day of qualification at the 2014 World Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships, Kiley Boynton and Ryan Ward, both of Riverside, Calif./Realis Gymnastics Academy are currently seventh in the mixed pairs standings. The championships are being held at the Palais des Sports Marcel Cerdan in Levallois, France.

Competition for the U.S. contingent continues tomorrow with women’s group dynamic routine and the mixed pairs balance exercise. Friday concludes with the finals for the men’s and women’s pairs, which will stream live on the USA Gymnastics YouTube channel at 12 p.m. ET.

Boynton and Ward’s powerful exercise grabbed the attention of the crowd, which began to clap along to the routine. They scored a 27.800 for seventh place with just 1.025 separating them from second. Russia’s Revaz Gurgenidze and Marina Chernova are the current leaders with a 29.200.

The USA’s Eirian Smith and Brian Kincher, both of Livermore, Calif./West Coast Training Center, also competed in today’s mixed pairs dynamic qualification. Despite an error on a full-twisting back toss, they posted a 26.000 and are currently 11th.

The United States’ women’s group of Christina Antoniades of Eldersburg, Md., Emily Ruppert of Baltimore, Md., and Hannah Silverman, Clarksville, Md., all of Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics and Cheer, was solid throughout the balance exercise. They scored 24.845 for 18th place.
