PUTIAN, China, April 1, 2016 – After the first day of qualifications at the 2016 World Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships, Tiffani Williams of Moreno Valley, Calif./Realis Gymnastics Academy, and Axel Osborne of Beaumont, Calif./Realis Gymnastics Academy, are currently second in the mixed pairs standings. The championships are being held at the Putian Sports Complex in Putian, China. Competition continues tomorrow in Putian with the second day of qualifications and finals for women’s and men’s pairs.

Williams and Osborne showcased their strength and flexibility in a dramatic balance routine. The solid performance earned the mixed pair a 28.170 for second place. Russia’s Georgy Pataraya and Marina Chernova are the current leaders with a 29.615. Prior to Realis Gymnastics Academy, Osborne was training at WOGA.

In the women’s pair competition, Jessica Renteria and Maren Merwarth, both of San Antonio, Texas/Acrobatic Gymnastics of San Antonio, are currently in seventh place with a combined total of 53.490. The duo earned 25.960 for their dynamic routine after an error during a back tuck on. The pair bounced back in their second performance posting a 27.530 for a stunning balance routine.

The United States’ women’s group of Londrea Garrett of Columbia Md., Josphina Kievsky of Elkridge, Md., and Mila Segel of Reisterstown, Md., who all train at Emilias Acro Gymnastics and Cheer, was solid throughout their dynamic exercise. The team scored 26.790 for ninth place.

The USA’s Savannah Bentley of Annapolis, Md., Hannah Silverman of Baltimore, Md., and Elise Stickley of Woodbine, Md., also competed in today’s women’s group qualification. The trio trains at Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics and Cheer. An energetic balance exercise earned the team a 25.530 for 13th place. Strickley was formerly of Skyview Gymnastics.
