Development Program

A development athlete in the T&T Program is defined as any athlete competing in the Development Program (Level 1-10 and Open) in either Individual Trampoline, Tumbling or Double Mini Trampoline.

The USAG Development Program is an integrated program designed to give a structured plan for training a gymnast from the day they enter the gym, through Open level competition. Gymnasts can choose to mobilize into the Elite Program from Development Level 10 and Open, or remain in the Development Program throughout their career.

The USA Gymnastics Development Program has two stages:

  • Level 1-7 – compulsory levels designed to build basics in a safe and progressive way.
  • Level 8-10 and Open – optional levels with additional flexibility to tailor routines to individual athletes’ strengths and preferences.

In addition to the above two stages, USA Gymnastics JumpStart is designed to lead into the Elite Program, bridging the gap from the Development Program. Younger athletes competing in Level 8-10 and their personal coaches are identified through national competition and testing, and introduced to the Elite Program at an annual national training camp.
