The 2001 Trampoline & Tumbling World Championships Team is hard at work in Portugal. Under the guidance of T&T Program Director, Ann Sims, and T&T National Team Coordinator, Joy Umenhofer, the team is putting the finishing touches on their passes and routines in preparation for the upcoming World Championships in Denmark.
This year’s event, the 22nd Trampoline, Tumbling and Double-Mini-Trampoline World Championships, is being held from 25-28 July at the Sports Centre in Odense, Denmark.
The 15 athletes named to the 2001 World Championships Team are Derrick Aldrich, Brad Davis, Lajeana Davis, Keith Douglas, David Ford, Frankie Hartman, Chris Helton, Dede Mogavero, Jared Olsen, Jennifer Parilla, Alisha Robinson, Tara Sewell, Erin Smith, Josh Vance, and Ryan Weston.

Jennifer Parilla
Event: Trampoline

Jennifer has been involved in Trampoline & Tumbling since she was 5 years old. The experienced 20-year old resident of Newport Beach, Calif., has already been a member of three World Championship Teams in her young career. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys snowboarding, watching movies, working out, traveling, and kickboxing. She attends school at Orange County College, and is currently undecided about her major.

Jennifer calls competing at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, “the most exciting experience of my life.” She says, “I’m still young and I’m looking forward to 2004. Now that I know what to expect, I feel I’ll have a much better outcome.”

 Keith Douglas
Event: Double-Mini

Keith is 24 years old. He works at Ameritech and lives in Grand Rapids, Mich., with his wife, Bridget. Keith received his M.B.A. in English from Michigan State University and is currently working toward his Masters in Business Administration.

Keith has been involved in Trampoline & Tumbling since he was 11 years old. He competed in artistic gymnastics at Michigan State and believes that T&T helps keep you in shape, helps you set goals, and helps with self-motivation.

When he finds the time between work and school, Keith enjoys playing recreational softball, listening to music, playing golf, reading, and staying active.

 Chris Helton
Event: Tumbling

Chris is 19 years old. He lives in New Orleans, La., where he attends the University of New Orleans. He is majoring in mechanical engineering. Chris has been tumbling for 10 years now. He believes that T&T helps you set goals and work toward achieving those goals. Chris credits T&T with enabling him to travel around the country and around the world and to meet lots of new people.

In his spare time, Chris likes playing baseball, hanging out with friends, and playing tennis.

 Ryan Weston

Event: Trampoline
Age: 21
Hometown: Chubbuck, Idaho
Number of World Championships: 4
Involvement in T&T: Since age 10
School: Idaho State University
Major: Mass Communications or Public Relations
Hobbies: Tennis, Piano, Art

Ryan believes that Trampoline & Tumbling has made him a stronger, more well-rounded person, and has exposed him to different cultures.

 Dede Mogavero

Event: Double-Mini Trampoline
Age: 20
Hometown: Lubbock, Texas
Number of World Championships: This is her first
Involvement in T&T: A former artistic gymnast, Dede has been involved in T&T since 1996.

Dede says that T&T has given her more self-confidence and made her more aware of her responsibilities as a role model.

 Brad Davis

Age: 30
Hometown: Lubbock, Texas

Hobbies: Camping, Water Skiing, Golf

Brad has been elected Team Captain by his teammates for the 2001 World Championships in Odense, Denmark.

 Derrick Aldrich

Derrick says that T&T has helped to teach him how to set goals and stay out of trouble.

 Erin Smith

Hometown: Pocatello, Idaho
Number of World Championships: This is her first.
Involvement in T&T: 13 years

Erin says that T&T has allowed her the opportunity to travel and meet many wonderful new people.

 Alisha Robinson

Involvement in T&T: Alisha was an artistic gymnast for 15 years. She has been tumbling for 3 years now.

Hobbies: Training, hanging out with friends, and following John around

Alisha’s involvement with T&T has taught her self-discipline and has allowed her to travel and meet lots of new people.
