INDIANAPOLIS, April 26, 2022 – USA Gymnastics Tuesday announced the four-athlete team that will represent the U.S. at the upcoming 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Ala., in the trampoline and tumbling divisions. Reigning World tumbling bronze medalist Kaden Brown (Herriman, Utah/Wasatch Trampoline & Tumbling) and 2021 U.S. tumbling champion Miah Bruns (Crete, Ill./World Champions Centre) will compete in men’s and women’s tumbling, while six-time World medalists Ruben Padilla (Bluffdale, Utah/Wasatch Trampoline & Tumbling) and Tristan Van Natta (Marysville, Ohio/Integrity Athletics) will once again look to prove themselves against the best double mini trampoline athletes in the world.

The World Games, which were postponed in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, take place every four years and serve as the equivalent to the Olympic Games for events and disciplines that are not currently included in the Olympic program. This year’s competition will draw more than 3,500 participants across 34 unique, multidisciplinary sports between opening ceremonies on July 7 and the event’s conclusion July 17. In gymnastics, the World Games feature acrobatic, parkour and individual rhythmic apparatus divisions in addition to the trampoline and tumbling competitions slated for July 15-17 at Legacy Arena at The Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex.

Dom Dumas (Athens, Ala./Air Extreme) and Tia Taylor (Knoxville, Tenn./Premier Athletics Knoxville) were named men’s and women’s tumbling alternates, and Tomas Minc (Chevy Chase, Md./Dynamite Gymnastics) and Shelby Nobuhara (Mapleton, Utah/High Altitude) will serve as alternates for men’s and women’s double mini. Athletes were selected based on performances at the 2022 Winter Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla., in March, and last weekend’s Elite Challenge in Irving, Texas. Complete U.S. World Games team selection procedures are publicly available on USA Gymnastics’ website.
