BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 5, 2022 – U.S. gymnasts earned silver in the 12-18-year-old women’s group competition and bronze in 12-18 women’s pair Saturday at the 2022 Acrobatic Gymnastics World Age Group Competitions in Baku, Azerbaijan. Reigning Acro World Age Group silver medalists Jaylen Ivey of San Jose, Calif., and Amaya Rogers of Campbell, Calif., (WestCoast Training Center) also claimed a spot in Sunday’s 13-19-year-old mixed pair final.

After qualifying in the second position, the trio of Olivia Green of Silver Spring, Md., Evie Plummer of San Antonio, Texas, and Aranel Prevost of Garrett Park, Md., (Xtreme Acro) delivered a 27.800 in the 12-18 women’s group final to secure the silver medal. They finished just behind the Russian Olympic Committee’s Valeriya Kuznetsova, Daniela Rubanova and Valeriia Zarovnaia, who took the top spot with a 28.050. Portugal’s Leonor Carreira, Ema Fernandes and Marta Oliveira (27.320) also finished on the podium in third.

The San Antonio-based duo of Allyson Stone and Ayla Vargas (Acrobatic Gymnastics of San Antonio) also picked up hardware Saturday, earning a bronze medal in the 12-18 women’s pair competition. Israel’s Harel Aharoni and Yuval Bar Tal led the way with a 27.640, while Maelle Devigne and Julie Philouze of France were second with a 27.500. Stone and Vargas posted a 27.400 to take third place.

In the 12-18 men’s pair final, U.S. gymnasts Davis Leavitt of Las Vegas, Nev., and Vlad Studwell of Henderson, Nev., (AGC Las Vegas) were seventh (25.950). Great Britain’s William Clark and Harley Curtis-Lawrence topped the podium with a 28.050. Pairs from the Russian Olympic Committee (27.600) and Bulgaria (27.250) rounded out the top-three.

Ivey and Rogers became the first U.S. gymnasts competing in the 13-19-year-old division to punch their tickets to Sunday’s finals. They qualified in the fifth position, earning a 52.150 across the balance and dynamic exercises. Portugal’s Luis Ferreira and Beatriz Mota advanced in the top spot with a 56.000.

Qualifications for the 13-19 women’s pair and women’s group divisions kicked off today and will spill over into the final day of competition. After the balance exercise, Mo Arthur of Rolla, Mo., and Ariana Katsov of Owensville, Mo., (Mid America Acro Tumbling) – the reigning bronze medalists in women’s pair – sit seventh with a 26.260, while teammates Willow Rose Noble and Sydney Padios (Moreno Valley, Calif./Realis Gymnastics Academy) are ninth with a 26.100. The duo of Iuliia Litvinkova and Varvara Roguleva of the Russian Olympic Committee notched the day’s high score of 27.800. The top-eight pairs will advance to Sunday’s final with a limit of one pair per country.

The U.S. women’s group comprised of Gia Calo and Sarah Wilson of Annapolis, Md., and Grace Wright of Harwood, Md., (International Elite) finished the day in ninth after posting a 26.490 in the dynamic exercise. The Israeli trio of Yarden Ron, Tamar Stollar and Michal Stratievsky currently sit in the top spot with a 28.000.

Women’s pair and women’s group qualifications will resume at the Milli Gimnastika Arenasi Sunday at 1 a.m. ET followed by all 13-19-year-old division finals at 6 a.m. ET.
