DALLAS, Texas, Aug. 13, 2009 –Steven Gluckstein of Atlantic Highlands, N.J., finished first in the preliminary round of senior men’s trampoline at the 2009 Visa Championships in Dallas, Texas. Athletes in trampoline, tumbling, double-mini trampoline and synchronized trampoline have advanced to the finals at the Dallas Convention Center based on performances in the preliminaries. Finals for double-mini trampoline and synchronized trampoline are scheduled for Friday, while trampoline and tumbling finals will take place on Saturday, Aug. 15.

Gluckstein, who trains at UltraTwisters, scored a 69.80 to post the top score for the senior men. Nani Vercruyssen of Honolulu, Hawaii, earned the highest trampoline score for the senior women with a 62.20. Dakota Earnest of Plains, Texas/ Acrospirits, (63.40) and Jeffery Gluckstein of Atlantic Highlands, N.J./ UltraTwisters, (62.60) claimed the top spot in the junior prelims.

Gymnasts who posted the high preliminary score for tumbling are: Kaitlin Tortorich of Haymarket, Va./ Capital Gymnastics, senior women (63.30); Kalon Ludvigson of Pocatello, Idaho/ Team Revolution, senior men (72.90); Kiara Nowlin of Oxnard, Calif./ Waller’s GynJam Academy, junior women (63.90); and Aaron Cook of Detroit, Mich./ AGT Flipcity, junior men (64.30).

The leaders after the prelims in double-mini are: Aubree Balken of Carlsbad, Calif./ Bounce California, senior women (66.20); Kiara Nowlin of Oxnard, Calif./ Waller’s GynJam Academy, junior women (68.30); senior Kalon Ludvigson, Pocatello, Idaho/ Team Revolution, senior men (71.60); and Alexander Renkert, Indianapolis, Ind./ Interactive Academy, junior men (70.30).

For synchronized trampoline, the leaders after the prelims are: junior women Savannah Vinsant of Lafayette, La./Trampoline and Tumbling Express, and Earnest (82.10); junior men K.J. Heger of Rockford, Ill./GAR, and Jeffery Gluckstein (82.80); and senior men Steven Gluckstein and Logan Dooley, Lake Forest, Calif./World Elite Gymnastics (88.70).

Scores for the preliminary rounds count toward the final score.

Competition for the Visa Championships wraps up on Sunday with women’s gymnastics, trampoline/tumbling, rhythmic gymnastics and acrobatic gymnastics.
