INDIANAPOLIS, March 27, 2017 – Andriy Stepanchenko has been named head coach for the men’s gymnastics athlete resident program at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., USA Gymnastics announced today. Stepanchenko has served as the assistant coach at the training center since December 2011.

“Andriy has been a valuable member of the USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic Training Center’s coaching staff since 2011, and we are excited to see him take on this responsibility,” said Dennis McIntyre, USA Gymnastics men’s program vice president. “I am confident his coaching expertise and vast knowledge of gymnastics will help our men’s program reach new heights in the coming years.”

Stepanchenko will oversee all aspects of the USOTC Resident Team Program, including long- and short-term program planning and individual resident athlete training, athlete development, day-to-day workout plans and competition plans. In addition, he will serve as an educational outreach resource to coaches and athletes for the men’s program utilizing the national team camps, developmental camps, educational workshops or seminars.

In 2015 and 2016, Stepanchenko was the USA Gymnastics Men’s Coach of the Year and was the head coach of the U.S. Team at the 2015 World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. In addition, he was a member of the coaching staff at the 2016 Olympic Games, the 2015 Pan American Games and the 2014 World Championships. As an athlete, he won a team bronze medal with Ukraine at the 1994 World Championships and was an alternate to the 1996 Olympic Games. He graduated from the State University of Physical Education and Sport in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, in 1992.
