NORMAN, Okla., April 9, 2015 – Stanford University posted the highest score of the first of two National Qualifier sessions at the 2015 National Collegiate Men’s Gymnastics National Championships. The University of California-Berkeley and Pennsylvania State University rounded out the top three, which advance to tomorrow’s team final competition.

Stanford scored a 435.850 ahead of Berkeley’s 433.700. Penn State was locked in a battle all afternoon with the University of Minnesota. It came down to the final routines: Steve Jaciuk’s horizontal bar and Trevor Howard’s floor. Both delivered hit routines with stuck dismounts. Howard’s 15.800 gave Penn State the edge: 432.900 to Minnesota’s 432.700.

Competition continues tonight at 8 p.m. ET, featuring the teams from the University of Oklahoma, the University of Michigan, the University of Illinois, the University of Iowa, Ohio State University and the United States Military Academy.
