INDIANAPOLIS, November 4, 2021 – The 2022 Gymnastics for All National Championships and GymFest is slated for June 24-26 at the Bank of Springfield Center in Springfield, Ill. Gymnastics for All, also known as group gymnastics, includes competitive and non-competitive opportunities in addition to HUGS, a program for athletes with special needs. The three-day GfA event showcases nearly 500 athletes participating in Power TeamGym, Acrobatics and Tumbling, a GymFest and the Gym for Life Challenge.

Power TeamGym is a competitive version of Gymnastics for All where 6- to 14-member squads of athletes perform together in two events – group floor exercise and a group jump routine consisting of tumbling, vaulting and mini-trampoline passes. There are 10 graded difficulty levels.

The Acrobatics and Tumbling division features athletes competing in pyramid, toss, acro and tumbling, combined with a group team event. Acrobatics and Tumbling is the developmental program for the college varsity team sport of the same name and is administered by university athletic departments through the National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association (NCATA).

Non-competitive divisions include GymFest and the Gym for Life Challenge – a performance-based event where groups have their routines evaluated for a bronze, silver or gold award, and multiple teams can achieve each status. GymFest is the national equivalent of the World Gymnaestrada and is designed for the enjoyment of the participants and audience rather than competitive achievement.

Gymnastics for All is one of the eight gymnastics sport disciplines officially recognized by the International Gymnastics Federation and gymnastics organizations worldwide. This diverse sport program boasts the largest worldwide membership of any of the disciplines and provides opportunities and activities for all ages and levels of abilities. Gymnastics for All activities contribute to the development of general sport skills, fitness, health, important movement patterns and daily life skills.
