TORONTO, Ont., Canada, Sept. 1, 2014 – On the final day of the 2014 Senior Pan American Championships at the Hershey Centre in Toronto, Ont., Canada, MyKayla Skinner of Gilbert, Ariz./Desert Lights, won the floor exercise gold medal, bringing her total gold medal haul to four. At the four-day men’s and women’s gymnastics competition, the USA captured 11 medals (six gold, three silver and two bronze), as well as qualified for the 2015 Pan American Games, also in Toronto.

In addition to the two team gold medals, the USA’s individual medals are: gold — Ashton Locklear of Huntersville, N.C./Everest Gymnastics, for uneven bars, and Skinner for vault, floor and all-around; silver — Marvin Kimble of Milwaukee, Wis./Swiss Turners, on pommel horse, Madison Kocian of Dallas/WOGA, for the uneven bars, and Brandon Wynn of Voorhees, N.J./Team Hilton HHonors (U.S. Olympic Training Center), on still rings; and bronze – Maggie Nichols of Little Canada, Minn./Twin City Twisters, and Sean Melton of Orlando, Fla./Ohio State University, in the women’s and men’s all-around, respectively.

Skinner posted at 14.750 for her floor exercise routine and the event title. Venezuela’s Jessica Lopez earned a 14.475 for second, and Cuba’s Yesenia Sasquia Ferrera Núñez was third at 14.400. Madison Desch of Blue Springs, Mo./GAGE, scored a 12.900 for sixth.

On parallel bars, Sean Melton of Orlando, Fla./Ohio State University, posted a 15.000 for fourth and Kimble earned a 14.700 to land in fifth. Jorge Giraldo of Colombia won the event title with a 15.700, followed by Cuba’s Manrique Larduet Bicet at 15.625 and Brazil’s Caio Souza with 15.150.

On the balance beam, Kocian just missed a medal with her 13.825, which put her in fourth place. Guatemala’s Ana Gomez Porras won the beam title at 14.450. Lopez finished in second place at 14.100, and Julie Kim Sinmon of Brazil was third at 14.000. Skinner was seventh at 13.475.

Sergio Sasaki won the vault title with his 15.400, and the high bar gold went to Colombia’s Jossimar Calvo (15.825).
