HUNTSVILLE, Texas, Sept. 26, 2016 – Fifty-seven athletes and their coaches participated in the September Developmental Invite Camp at the USA Gymnastics National Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch, a U.S. Olympic Training site. The athletes participated in two-a-day training sessions under the direction of Valeri Liukin, the newly named National Team Coordinator. Athletes and coaches worked on the elite compulsory routines and upgrades of skills for the coming competitive year.

The developmental camp opened with physical abilities testing with an emphasis on basics, strength and flexibility. Anna Huber of Rochester Gymnastics Academy placed first, followed by Mia Heather of San Mateo Gymnastics. Ann Marie Gonzalez of Rodina Elite Gymnastics Academy was third. Joscelyn Roberson of North East Texas Elite Gymnastics was chosen as most improved athlete at camp by the national coaching staff.

The gymnasts will return in November to continue their preparations for the 2017 season.
