Indianapolis, Ind. – USA Gymnastics’ “Send-Off to Sydney”, a free exhibition in celebration of the 2000 U.S. Olympic Team for women’s gymnastics, is planned for September 2 at Southwest Texas University’s Strahan Coliseum in San Marcos at 3:00 p.m.


“Send-Off to Sydney” features 2000 U.S. Olympic Team members:
  • Alyssa Beckerman (alternate), 1999 World Championships Team Member
  • Amy Chow, 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist
  • Jamie Dantzscher, 1999 World Championships Team Member
  • Dominique Dawes, 1992 Olympic Bronze Medalist, 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist
  • Kristen Maloney, 1998 and 1999 U.S. National Champion
  • Elise Ray, 2000 U.S. National Champion
  • Tasha Schwikert (alternate), 2000 Spieth Sogipa All-Around Silver Medalist
  • Morgan White, 1999 Pan American Games All-Around Gold Medalist
  • Kelli Hill, Head Coach
  • Mary Lee Tracy, Assistant Coach
  • Bela Karolyi, National Team Coordinator
“Send-off to Sydney is a unique opportunity to cheer on the women’s team before they embark on the most exciting journey of their lives,” said Bob Colarossi, USA Gymnastics President. “We plan to send Team USA off in style.”
The exhibition takes place immediately prior to the team’s departure to the 2000 Olympic Games. The team is training in Houston at an Olympic preparation camp at Karolyi’s Gymnastics the entire week prior to “Send-off to Sydney”.
Free tickets can be picked up at Capital Gymnastics, National Elite, Crenshaw Athletic Center, Acrotex, Faye’s Gymnastics, High Tech and Oak Hill Gymnastics.
