Rybacki Named Assistant U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Olympic Team Coach

Steve Rybacki, coach of Jamie Dantzscher has been named assistant women’s Olympic team coach, replacing Mary Lee Tracy. Tracy, coach of Morgan White and alternate Alyssa Beckerman, volunteered to withdraw her position after White withdrew from the Games. (White left Sydney for home on Monday.)

“Although I am confident that I would perform well as the Assistant Coach, I am surrendering my credential,” said Tracy. “Nothing is more important to me than making sure that our team has the best chance for success,” she added.

Rybacki, along with his wife Beth, are head coaches and owners of the Charter Oak Gliders Club in Covina, Calif. Beth (Klein) Rybacki was the youngest member of the 1980 Olympic Team at age 14. Steve was the 1997 National Gymnastics Coach of the Year, the 1996 Elite Coaches Association Coach of the Year and the USOC’s 1996 Developmental Coach of the Year. The Rybackis have three children.
