Montpellier, France, Sept. 20, 2011 – Competition in the team final and individual qualification at the 2011 World Rhythmic Championships has reached its halfway point in Montpellier, France, today. Medals will be awarded later this evening in the individual hoop and ball events.

The United States is currently ranked 15th in the team competition, while 2010 U.S. national champion Julie Zetlin of Bethesda, Md./Capital Rhythmics, leads the Americans individually in 28th place. Shelby Kisiel of Missouri City, Texas/North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, is 48th and Polina Kozitskiy of Fountainville, Pa./Philadelphia Rhythmic Academy, is 53rd after two events.

Competition to determine the team standings and individual event and all-around qualifiers continues tomorrow and Thursday with the final two events (clubs and ribbon). The individual all-around final is Friday, while group competition is scheduled to take place Saturday (all-around) and Sunday (individual events).
