Three-Time U.S. National Champion Jessica Howard to Lead Team

Indianapolis – Jessica Howard (Jacksonville, Fla.), Olga Karmansky (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Shayna Javornicky (Queens, N.Y.) have been selected to represent the United States at the Senior Pan American Championships, September 18-23 in Cancun, Mexico, and at the 2001 Rhythmic World Championships, October 17-21 in Madrid, based on results of the USA Gymnastics rhythmic national team training camp held this weekend in San Francisco at the Marin Rhythmic Gymnastics Training Center (MRGTC).

“We have selected a very strong and prepared team to represent our country in the Senior Pan American Championships and at Worlds,” said Bob Colarossi, USA Gymnastics President. “Jessica Howard has proven that she is among the best in the world based on her placement in recent international competitions and I am confident in her ability to lead this team to success.”
Howard, 17, is the three-time defending rhythmic national champion and recently represented the United States at the World Games in Akita, Japan and at the Goodwill Games in Brisbane, Australia. Karmansky, 15, finished second at the recent U.S. Championships in Philadelphia, her first year as a senior, and made a strong international impression at the World Games in Akita. Javornicky, 15, placed third in the U.S. Championships.
