INDIANAPOLIS, May 13, 2016 – Eight U.S. National Team members are among the rhythmic gymnasts competing in this weekend’s 2016 Rhythmic National Qualifier at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. Based on performances at the Qualifier, 23 junior/hopes and 13 senior athletes will advance to the USA Gymnastics Championships, the rhythmic national championships, June 8 – 13 at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center and Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, R.I.

The eight national team members are: seniors – Natalie Bourand of Burr Ridge, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, Heather Chan of New York City, N.Y./Isadora, Evita Griskenas of Orlando, Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, Ekatherina Kapitonova of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora, Elena Shinohara of Suwanee, Ga./Rhythmic Brains; juniors – Elizabeth Kapitonova of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora, Lili Mizuno of Brentwood, Calif./Community Youth Center and Kristina Sobolevskaya of Marina Del Ray, Calif./California Rhythms.

The first session of competition begins Friday, May 12, at 8:30 a.m. ET, and concludes with the final session on Sunday, May 14, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
