The Rhythmic Program at USA Gymnastics welcomed 30 participants to the RG International Judges’ Course February 07-11, 2009 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The course included participants from the United States, notably 2004 Olympian Mary Sanders, as well as from RUS, KAZ, SRB, FRA and CAN, including the first Olympic Champion in the sport of rhythmic gymnastics, Lori Fung (CAN).

The Course was opened by Vice President of Program at USA Gymnastics, Kathy Kelly, and Rhythmic Program Director, Caroline Hunt (RG FIG Technical Committee member) who welcomed the participants and the course instructor, Ms. Nataliya Kuzmina, first vice-president of the RG FIG Technical Committee.

The course was one of the most successful for the US Rhythmic Program, confirming 27 brevet judges for the XII cycle and 3 national judges. Ms. Kuzmina was commended by all for her professional, detailed lectures and patient instruction. "The atmosphere was focused, energetic and creative," commented Ms. Kuzmina. "I commend USA Gymnastics for their excellent organization and visible commitment to rhythmic gymnastics."
