Universal Sports will televise Bud Greenspan’s documentary on the 1984 Olympic Games, “Sixteen Days of Glory,” on Jan. 1, 2011, at 9 p.m. ET. Mary Lou Retton is one of several athletes featured in the piece that centers on the glory of the Los Angeles Games. Other athletes included are hurdler Edwin Moses, swimmer Rowdy Gaines, marathon runner Joan Benoit, sprinter Carl Lewis and diver Greg Louganis.

Universal Sports will show nine of Greenspan’s Olympic documentaries to recognize his six decades of chronicling some of the greatest Olympic stories. The Olympic documentarian passed away on Dec. 25 at the age of 84. The U.S. Olympic Committee established a scholarship in 2007 at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts to honor Greenspan. For more information, visit cinema.usc.edu.
