When the tornadoes blew through northern Illinois last weekend, the home of Norbert Bendixen, the Illinois state chairman for women’s program for 22 years, and his family and the homes of some of the members of Gym Corner in Washington, Ill., were destroyed or damaged. His gym, Gym Corner, was not harmed during the storm. The KNB Relief Fund was established to provide support from the at-large gymnastics community for Bendixen, his family and the afflicted members of his gymnastics club who are recovering from the devastation.

“Norbert and his family have lost everything,” said Don McPherson, who established the relief fund and will work with Bendixen in distributing the funds, “and there are also a number of other families who were afflicted. This fund is intended to provide some relief as they set about rebuilding their homes and lives.”

To donate, individuals should make the check payable to the KNB Relief Fund and send it to the KNB Fund, c/o West Suburban Bank, 2800 S Finley Rd., Downers Grove, IL 60515. Before sending the check, please write 2100042379 and “deposit only” on the back of the check.

Anyone who would like to send messages of encouragement or to keep up on the news, please check Bendixen’s Facebook page.
