GLASGOW, Scotland, Dec. 5, 2013 – Fresh off last weekend’s successful title defense at the World Cup in Stuttgart, Germany, Elizabeth Price of Coopersburg, Pa./Parkettes, is also hoping to win the women’s all-around at the World Cup in Glasgow, Scotland, on Dec. 7, for the second straight year. 2012 Olympian John Orozco of the Bronx, N.Y./Team Hilton HHonors (U.S. Olympic Training Center), is competing in the men’s competition. Glasgow is the second of four stops on the International Gymnastics Federation’s all-around World Cup Series.

In 2012, Price won back-to-back titles at the Stuttgart and Glasgow World Cups, and last weekend she clinched her second straight all-around crown in Stuttgart. The women’s field in Glasgow includes Romania’s Larisa Iordache, who finished second in Stuttgart, just 0.034 behind Price, Italy’s Vanessa Ferrari, who took third in Germany, and Japan’s Asuka Teramoto, who won the title at the 2013 Tokyo World Cup. The balance of the field features: Carlotta Ferlito of Italy; Ruby Harrold of Great Britain; Roxana Popa of Spain; and Raer Theaker of Great Britain.
Orozco, who was fifth in Stuttgart, faces a talented line-up: Fabian Gonzalez of Spain; Andrei Likhovitskiy of Belarus; Sam Oldham of Great Britain; Daniel Purvis of Great Britain, the 2012 Glasgow World Cup champ; Andreas Toba of Germany; Oleg Verniaiev of the Ukraine, who won the World Cup last weekend in Stuttgart; and Masayoshi Yamamoto of Japan.
The Glasgow champion takes home a check for 15,000 Swiss Francs, with 12,000 for second place, and 8,000 for third, down to 1,000 for eighth place.
The 2013-2014 FIG all-around World Cup Series includes four World Cups, and the next stop is the AT&T American Cup in Greensboro, N.C., on March 1. The series concludes in Tokyo on April 5-6. For more information, go to attamericancup.com.
