Overview

• U.S. Classic is the final qualifier for women’s artistic athletes to the 2026 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships August 6-9 in Phoenix, Arizona. PeoplesBank Arena will host the event from July 17-18 and will also feature the 2026 Hopes Championships for 11-12 and 13-14 year old women’s artistic gymnasts.
• Among athletes expected to compete are three-time Olympic medalist Jade Carey, five-time World medalist Leanne Wong, two-time World team champion Skye Blakely and four-time NCAA and 2013 American Cup champion Katelyn Ohashi.

Key Bios

Skye Blakely (Florida Bio)
Hometown: Frisco, Texas
Club: University of Florida
Age: 21
Blakely is a two-time World champion and eight-time U.S. medalist and will be in Hartford in her first elite competition since the 2025 World Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia. She currently competes for the University of Florida and most recently won uneven bars silver and team bronze at the 2026 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth. At Blakely’s last appearance at U.S. Classic in 2024, she won silver on vault.

Jade Carey (OSU Bio)
Hometown: Phoenix, Ariz.
Club: Oregon State University Training Center
Age: 26
Headlining the entries for the event in Connecticut is three-time Olympic and seven-time World medalist Carey. Before competing just last month at USAG’s American Classic, Carey’s last elite competition was the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris where she won team gold with the U.S. women’s team. Domestically, the 2026 U.S. Classic will be the first premiere event she will attend since the 2024 Olympic Team Trials – Gymnastics in Minneapolis.

Katelyn Ohashi (UCLA Bio)
Hometown: Newcastle, Wash.
Club: Pacific Reign Gymnastics
Age: 29
Returning to elite competition for the first time since 2013 when she won the American Cup all-around title, Ohashi’s comeback story has grabbed the attention of fans and media. She is one of the most well-known collegiate gymnasts in the community, competing for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from 2016-2019 and winning four NCAA medals. Her senior year floor exercise routine at UCLA went viral in 2019, amassing more than 250 million views on YouTube.

Leanne Wong (Florida Bio)
Hometown: Kansas City, Mo.
Club: University of Florida
Age: 22
One of the country’s most-decorated athletes, veteran Wong currently boasts five World Championship medals and seven U.S. medals. At the University of Florida, she won seven NCAA medals and is a 29-time All-American. On the elite circuit, she most recently was the 2025 World Championships all-around silver medalist and won the 2025 U.S title on vault.
