Indianapolis, Ind. – Top gymnasts from the United States, Romania and China will contend for the team title at the 2000 Pontiac International Team Championships, November 9 and 10 at the War Memorial at Oncenter at 6:30 p.m.

“We are hopeful that the U.S. team will receive great support from the city of Syracuse and the local gymnastics community,” said Bob Colarossi, President of USA Gymnastics. “The Pontiac International Team Championships is an important meet for us as we compete against two of our biggest rivals and two of the strongest gymnastics teams in the world.”

Competition Format

Each men’s and women’s team consists of six athletes. Five athletes compete on each individual apparatus and the top four scores count. The team with the highest point total is the overall team champion.
The 2000 Pontiac International Team Championships will be televised on NBC on December 16 at 4:00 p.m. EST and December 17 at 2:00 p.m. EST.
Past participants of the Pontiac International Team Championships are 2000 U.S. Olympians Blaine Wilson, John Roethlisberger and Elise Ray and Olympians from Romania and China including Simona Amanar, Andreea Raducan, Jie Ling and Marian Dragulescu.
Tickets will be available beginning Tuesday, October 17 by calling Ticketmaster at 315-472-0700, the Oncenter box office at 315-435-2121 online at “www.ticketmaster.com or from a participating gymnastics club. Coupons are available from the Syracuse Convention and Visitors Bureau. Two-day ticket prices are $40, $30 and $20. Single session tickets are $25, $17.50 and $12.50.
