2012 London Olympic gold-medalist Jordyn Wieber will be honored by the Phoenix Mercury as the team’s 2014 Woman of Inspiration. Weiber will officially receive the honor during the Mercury’s Aug. 2 game against the Indiana Fever.
Wieber will speak with local athletes before the game and participate in a halftime Q&A session with fans. She joins an elite group of women whohave been honored by the Mercury, including Robin Roberts (2007), Ali Vincent, the first female Biggest Loser (2008), Jackie Joyner-Kersee (2009), Billie Jean King (2010), Picabo Street (2011), Hope Solo (2012) and Lisa Fernandez (2013).
