Philanthropist Doug Goldman has agreed to a matching pledge of $160,000 ($20,000 per year for 8 years) to support the reinstatement of men’s gymnastics at the University of California, Berkeley. Goldman’s pledge is contingent upon four other donors making the same pledge, either from existing donors increasing their pledge or new donors at that level.

Cal Gymnastics Forever, which is spearheading the effort to reinstate gymnastics at U.C. Berkeley, has until the end of April to raise funds to support the program. The group appreciates the commitments already made for the program and thinks they may be close to a "conditional" reinstatement. However, they are still short of the fundraising goal and anticipate that raising more pledges will be one of the conditions.

Existing donors can extend their pledges up to 8 years by simply sending an email to calmensgymnastics@gmail.com. There is still time to make initial pledges by clicking here

Cal Gymnastics Forever is thankful for the support demonstrated thus far and welcomes any and all pledges to help preserve the tradition of athletic and academic excellence at Cal and ensure men’s gymnastics celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2012!
