2018 Open Championships

Participants The 2018 Open Championships will include Levels 5-6 and Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Groups. The event will also include a JO Group and L3-6 Coaching Clinic on Saturday, May 26th.

There will also be a Future Stars test held in conjunction with the Open Championships on May 26th. Click here for Future Stars testing information.
Coaches Workshop A JO Group and Level 3-6 Coaches Workshop will be held on Saturday, May 26. The registration for this workshop is included in the coach registration fee. Coaches without athletes participating in Open Championships are also encouraged to attend!

The workshop will be taught by current Brevet Judge, Junior Olympic Development Coordinator, and 2002 World Championships Group Coach, Elena Savenkova.

A main focus of the workshop will be introducing coaches to teaching collective work and group training in preparation for the integration of group as a compulsory element of the level 4 Junior Olympic program starting in 2020. There will also be a Q&A session and updates/clarifications for individual JO levels 3-6.

We are excited to announce that the 2018 Rhythmic Open Championships will be held at the historic 1932 Jack Shea Arena at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, NY! This arena, home to the 1932 Olympic Games, will provide a spacious venue for our Open Championships event.

There will be concessions and vending machines available on-site.
Entry Fees & Registration Entry fee:
  • $150 per athlete
  • $200 per Group
  • $75 per coach (includes Group Coaching Clinic registration)

Only the first 350 athletes/groups will be accepted. Additional participants may be placed on a wait list.

Registration will be conducted using the Meet Reservation system on the USA Gymnastics website.

Reminder: ALL Coaches must register. Unregistered coaches will not be allowed in the credential area!

Note: The venue will charge a nominal admission fee for spectators

Those staying on-site at the OTC will be considered for transportation to/from the Albany airport. At no time is transportation guaranteed, but USA Gymnastics and the OTC staff will make best efforts for those staying on-site who have turned in flight information by April 20th.

Transportation Request Guidelines:
  • ARRIVALS: 5:00pm or earlier at the ALB airport
  • DEPARTURES: 12:00pm or later at the ALB airport
  • Flight information must be turned in to USA Gymnastics by April 20th using the travel form below to be considered for transportation.
  • All participants staying at the OTC must submit the travel form. It will be assumed that any participant who does not submit the travel form by April 20th will provide their own transportation.

Please be mindful of the fact that the OTC is several hours’ distance from the Albany Airport and there are a limited number of shuttles per day. It is possible that depending on arrival time there could be several hours wait for the next shuttle.
Membership and Attire Athletes must hold a current USA Gymnastics Athlete Membership

Coaches must hold a current USA Gymnastics Professional Membership/safety/background check/U100 to participate in the 2018 Rhythmic Open Championships

All coaches must be in athletic attire to be on the field of play.
Qualification Participation in Regional Championships (no minimum score requirement)
Note: Per the Rules & Policies, petitions are considered ONLY in the case of illness or injury with a doctor’s note.
Awards Based on the ages of all entered gymnasts per level, awarding groups by age groupings will be established and communicated after the close of registration.

Team awards will be given as follows:
  • Top Level 5 Teams – 1st-3rd Place
    • Calculated by the top 3 level 5 AA scores from each participating club.
  • Top Level 6 Teams – 1st-3rd Place
    • Calculated by the top 3 level 6 AA scores from each participating club.
  • Overall Team Champions – 1st-3rd Place
    • Calculated by the addition of the two scores above.

Refunds 50% refunds of entry fees will be provided in the case of illness or injury only, with a doctor’s note. The refund must be requested in writing before the end of the event.

Refunds for OTC lodging are not possible.
Additional information Lake Placid is a historic Olympic town with lots to offer families in the spring, including a charming Main Street full of restaurants, shops and beautiful lake views!
