Glasgow selected as host city for 2015 World Gymnastics Championships

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 22, 2011 Acaa The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has awarded the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships to Glasgow, Scotland. The decision was made during the FIG Council Meeting in San Jose, Calif.

AcaAWe congratulate our friends from British Gymnastics and the city of Glasgow,AcaA said Steve Penny, president of USA Gymnastics. The USA was one of three countries bidding for the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. AcaAWe also appreciate the tremendous support from our partners in Orlando, with whom we have created a new sense of collaboration for the sport in the United States.AcaA

The 2015 World Championships serve a qualifying event for the 2016 Olympic Games, scheduled for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Council also awarded two additional World Championships for 2015: rhythmic gymnastics Acaa Stuttgart, Germany; and trampoline Acaa Odense, Denmark.
