This month we are proud to highlight Gold Medal Winners, Ashley Hargis, Kristin Weidmaier and Chelcea Riegel of Rising Star Acro Club. The trio was awarded the Gold Medal in the Women's Age Group Competition at the 1st Acrobatic Gymnastics International Tournament in Gabrovo, Bulgaria.

Q. What did it mean to win a Gold Medal, not only for yourself, but for the USA?

Krissy: Winning an international gold medal was beyond words. I have never felt so excited, so proud to be an American, and so proud for my team.

Ashley: It really did mean a lot to win a gold medal. It was my trio's first time winning an international gold medal. Knowing the fact that three groups went from the USA and all brought home gold is just an amazing feeling.

Chelcea: I was so excited. I put my mind to it and it happened. First, I felt it was an honor to be selected to represent the USA and I feel very fortunate to bring home a gold medal for my Country. I now can imagine myself setting future goals and accomplishing them.

Q. What were your goals going into the Bulgaria Invitational? Did you exceed your expectations for this event?

Krissy: My goals were to do the best I could, and to have fun. I practiced and prayed hard everyday, and together I and my trio succeeded.

Ashley: Our goals were to bring home one medal from Bulgaria. Yes, we did exceed our goals, we brought home three.
