The acro program was saddened to hear of the death of Amber Kottwitz on August 26, 2006.

Amber was a Level 10 athlete from Mid-America Acro and Tumbling Team in Owensville, MO. She was the middle in a women's group with partners Ariel Walsh and Kayla Huesgen. During the 2006 season, Amber and her partners became Level 10 Women's Group National Champions at the Acrobatics Gymnastics National Championships and were selected to the Junior Olympic National Team. The group represented the USA at the 2006 International Age Group Competition in Coimbra, Portugal. The trio finished preliminary competition in 7th place - a strong finish for the USA. The group also competed at the Flanders International Acro Cup in Puurs, Belgium in March, placing 6th. In 2005, the group won the gold medal at the Freedom Cup in Landover, MD.

Amber was a very talented and hardworking athlete, as her accomplishments show. But even more than that she was a terrific person. She was a great teammate, respectful to coaches and officials, dedicated athlete, and always had a smile on her face. She was a valuable member of the many teams and delegations she was a part of. Amber will be dearly missed.
