Please join the USOC in aiding Haiti

A "tent city" that citizens of Haiti are forced to live in.

The U.S. Olympic Committee is coordinating an effort of the Olympic sports to help the citizens of Haiti in the wake of the earthquake. The USOC is working in conjunction with the Pan American Sports Organization, Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization and UNICEF to help restore and rebuild sport in Haiti, as well as bring hope to the country through the participation of Haitian athletes in the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games, 2011 Pan American Games and 2012 Olympic Games.

In addition, an estimated 100,000 Haitian children are living in tent cities right now, and these children have nothing and have nothing to do. The USOC is supporting a partnership between the Haitian Olympic Committee and UNICEF to donate sports equipment for children living in the tent cities.

We are reaching out to you in the hope that you will want to assist in this humanitarian effort. Click here for the list of items the USOC is seeking to provide to them, and along with new and gently used sports equipment. USA Gymnastics is sending items, and we hope that you will become involved in this valuable initiative.

If you are interested, please contact Regina Bennis-Hartman, who is with the USOC’s international relations division. Her contact information is 719-866-4691; regina.bennis-hartman@usoc.org. They need to have all donations delivered to the USOC warehouse by April 12, 2010.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact Regina directly, and thank you for considering this request.
