Wynn, Valdez win all-around titles at 2009 Men's Qualifier

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., July 11, 2009 -- Brandon Wynn of Voorhees, N.J./Ohio State University, won the all-around in the senior division and garnered the top points in the ranking system to qualify for the 2009 Visa Championships, Aug. 12-15, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Jordan Valdez of Louisville, Colo./Xtreme Altitude Gymnastics, took top honors in the junior all-around to earn his trip to Dallas. A total of 26 seniors and 10 juniors will advance to the Visa Championships, USA Gymnastics national championships.

The Men’s Qualifier was the last opportunity for the country’s male gymnasts to qualify for the 2009 Visa Championships. The field included a combination of men vying for berths to the Visa Championships and gymnasts who have already qualified and used the Qualifier as a tune-up for the Visa Championships.

Below is a list of the gymnasts who advanced to the Visa Championships from the Men’s Qualifier. Other gymnasts had previously qualified and a complete list of the men’s field will be released later this week.

The 2009 Visa Championships, USA Gymnastics’ national championships, features the country’s best gymnasts vying for national titles and spots on the U.S. National Team. Men’s and women’s gymnastics will be held at the American Airlines Center, with rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline and tumbling, and acrobatic gymnastics staged at the Dallas Convention Center. The competition will feature a mixture of 2008 Olympians and rising stars.
