posted on 11/13/2022

SOFIA, Bulgaria (November 13, 2022) - Twenty-two U.S. trampoline gymnasts and tumblers, including 11 previous medalists and six rookies, are poised to take on the 2022 T&T World Championships November 16-19 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The World Games men's tumbling champion Kaden Brown (Herriman, Utah/Wasatch Trampoline & Tumbling) will look to secure his first World Championship title, while the U.S. women's double mini squad has the opportunity to three-peat with the help of returning team members Shelby Nobuhara (Mapleton, Utah/High Altitude), an individual double mini silver medalist, and Tristan Van Natta (Maryville, Ohio/Integrity Athletics). U.S. gymnasts have also claimed team all-around silver in each of the last two iterations of the event (2019, 2021).

American athletes hope to build on a successful start to 2022 in which 5 athletes collected World Cup hardware. Over the summer, two-time Olympian Nicole Ahsinger (Lafayette, La./Trampoline and Tumbling Express) and partner Sarah Webster (Lafayette, La./Trampoline and Tumbling Express) earned the FIG World Cup Series women's synchronized trampoline championship following silver- and gold-medal performances at the AERE World Cup in Italy in May and Nissen World Cup in Switzerland in July. Webster also topped the women's individual trampoline field at the AERE World Cup. That same weekend, Miah Bruns (Crete, Ill./World Champions Centre), The World Games silver medalist, pocketed gold in women's tumbling, and Tomas Minc (Chevy Chase, Md./Dynamite Gymnastics) and Nobuhara added double mini silver and bronze, respectively.

Competition at Sofia's Arena Armeec kicks off Wednesday with qualifications in men's and women's individual trampoline, women's tumbling, and men's and women's double mini. Qualifications for men's tumbling and men's and women's synchronized trampoline are set to follow Thursday. Tumbling and double mini team champions will also be determined Thursday. After a second round of qualifications Friday for the men's and women's individual trampoline and tumbling divisions as well as men's double mini, individual tumbling and double mini titles and men's and women's trampoline team winners will be decided on the event's penultimate day. Individual and synchronized trampoline finals are slated for Saturday. The all-around team final will close out competition.
