Bischoff, Burkhart will make senior international debuts at Varna World Challenge Cup May 26-29

VARNA, Bulgaria (May 25, 2022) - Men's Senior Development Team members Jeremy Bischoff (Santa Clarita, Calif./Stanford University) and Taylor Burkhart (Morrison, Colo./Stanford Boy's Gymnastics) are getting a taste of the international limelight this weekend at the FIG World Challenge Cup in Varna, Bulgaria. The event, which will feature competitors from 28 countries, will mark both athletes' senior debuts on the world stage. Burkhart previously claimed team gold at the 2018 Junior Pan American Championships in 2018.

Burkhart is planning to compete on all six apparatus, while Bischoff will take on all but vault. Qualifications for floor exercise, pommel horse and still rings commence Thursday at 7 a.m. ET at the Palace of Culture and Sports - Varna, with qualifications for vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar to follow Friday at 7 a.m. ET.

The top eight gymnasts on each apparatus will advance to this weekend's finals. The floor final is set for Saturday at 6:30 a.m. ET. The pommel horse final will kick off around 8 a.m. ET, and the rings final will close out Saturday's competition slate beginning at 9:24 a.m. ET. The vault final will lead off Day 4 at 6:30 a.m. ET. The parallel bars champion will be crowned at 8 a.m. ET with the horizontal bar final set to wrap up competition from 9:24-10 a.m. ET.
