BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 30, 2022 – Following a sixth-place showing on still rings in Cairo earlier this month, Alex Diab (Glen Ellyn, Ill./U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center) is set to represent the U.S. this week in Baku, Azerbaijan, at the final FIG Apparatus World Cup of the season.

Diab, the reigning U.S. still rings champion who was also a replacement athlete for the U.S. team that competed at the Tokyo Olympic Games last summer, will attempt to qualify to his second Apparatus World Cup final of 2022 Thursday. Qualifications at the Milli Gimnastika Arenasi are slated to begin at 4 a.m. ET and will run through 9 a.m. ET. The top eight gymnasts will advance to Saturday’s rings final.
