Malone secures gold on horizontal bar, bronze on parallel bars on final day of Cottbus World Cup

COTTBUS, Germany, February 27, 2022 - Brody Malone (Belfast, Tenn./Stanford University) added more hardware on the final day of the FIG Apparatus World Cup in Cottbus, Germany. The reigning World bronze medalist and 2020 Olympic finalist on horizontal bar delivered a 14.700 to secure gold on his signature apparatus. He also claimed bronze on parallel bars Sunday, adding a third piece of hardware to his first World Cup medal haul.

Malone's 14.466 on parallel bars was outpaced only by Ukraine's Illia Kovtun (14.966) and Australia's Mitchell Morgans (14.733), who finished one-two. Meanwhile, Tin Srbic of Croatia (14.333) and Alexander Myakinin of Israel (14.100) rounded out the horizontal bar podium.

Malone took bronze on pommel horse Saturday with a 14.133. Over the course of the week, he advanced to each apparatus final for which he was eligible - pommel horse, still rings (6th, 13.200), parallel bars and horizontal bar. He did not compete on vault or floor exercise at this event.
