Summary Description
The position of Assistant Coach for the Men’s Resident Team Program at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Training Center (USOPTC) in Colorado Springs is a full time coaching position. The USOPTC Resident Program Assistant Coach will work in collaboration with the Head Coach for the Men’s Resident Team Program to oversee all aspects of the USOPTC Resident Team Program including athlete development, training and competition. The Resident Program Assistant Coach will be under the direct supervision of the Men’s High Performance Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Resident Program Head Coach in all aspects of the USOPTC Resident Team Program including program development, athlete development, long-term planning, day-to-day workout plans and competition plans
  • Assist the Resident Program Head Coach in day-to-day coaching duties
  • Attend camps and competitions domestically and internationally as required or assigned
  • Along with the Head Coach, ensure all USA Gymnastics and USOPTC policies with regard to the Resident Team Program and Resident Team Athletes are being followed
  • Assist with educational aspects of the Men’s Program as needed or assigned
  • Serve as an educational outreach resource to coaches and athletes for the Men’s Program at National Team camps, development camps and educational workshops or seminars hosted at the USOPTC
  • Maintain a complete working knowledge of men’s FIG rules
  • Consistent communication with Sports Performance and Athletic Training staff
Requirements and Competencies
  • Must have a strong coaching background including work at the elite levels of coaching and/or elite international competitive experience
  • Working knowledge of all facets and levels of the USA Gymnastics Men’s Program including knowledge of the men’s FIG rules
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Able to effectively use video skill capture and analysis systems
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills
  • Experience managing teams
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3 to 5 years experience working at the elite levels of coaching
  • Collegiate level and/or elite international competitive experience
Other Information
  • This is a contracted position with USA Gymnastics through August 31, 2021 with opportunity to renew
  • Target start date January 4, 2021 or earlier
  • This position often requires work in the evenings and over the weekend
  • Domestic and international travel is expected and required
  • Position is based in Colorado Springs, CO
  • Compensation is commensurate with experience
