European Gymnastics Union founder Pierre Chabloz passes away

Pierre Chabloz, founder of the European Gymnastics Union (UEG) and honorary member of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 3, after a long illness. He would have celebrated his 92nd birthday on Dec. 9. Members of the international gymnastics community gathered in La Tour-de-Peilz, Switzerland, on Monday, Dec. 8, to pay their respects to Chabloz.

A native of Switzerland, Chabloz founded the UEG in 1982 and served as its president until 1993. He was named an honorary member of the FIG in 1994.
