Summary Description
The Director of Partnerships is someone with experience selling, leading and activating major partnership programs, coupled with a partnership-centric mindset and possesses the ability to work across multiple marketing disciplines. This position requires strong business development savvy, client service skills, presentation development, project management, and measurement of sponsorship initiatives. The position will report to the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the business development strategy for securing new strategic business partners
  • Prospect, target, pitch and secure sponsorship, event and media partnerships
  • Build and cultivate positive client relationships
  • Lead day-to-day property and ambassador relationships
  • Assist with the development and execution of integrated sponsorship activations, initiatives and campaigns using client’s sponsorship portfolio and assets
  • Lead on the development of key documents to include senior executive presentations, strategy documents, best practice guides and case studies
  • Collaborate on sponsorship activation and campaign content creation (e.g. digital, social, video)
  • Deliver impactful on-brand and on-target partnership programs for new business prospects and current partners
  • Use storytelling to effectively sell-in partnership ideas with new business and account teams
  • Develop and present customized partnership solutions
  • Facilitate ideation by leading cross-functional brainstorms to inform creative solutions
  • Stay informed on brand marketing and sports sponsorship trends

Requirements and Competencies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to senior executives, employees, and other audiences

  • Prior strategy work: ability to be a key contributor to the strategic direction by supporting the creation and implementation of marketing strategy and program development
  • Shown success building and maintaining trusted client and partner relationships
  • Experience in developing successful integrated sponsorship activations, initiatives and campaigns
  • Experience developing presentations for internal/external senior executives
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to tackle problems effectively and independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter who will take initiative with new projects and work with a variety of people
  • Capacity to become an expert on client’s brand and the state of client’s industry
  • Experience with development and maintenance of project tracking tools
  • Ability and flexibility to travel with weekend/holiday work as needed
  • Ability to influence through visual communication and creative expertise
  • Innate sense of brand, aesthetics and knowledge of consumer marketing
  • Proven track record of communicating platforms and offerings that drive revenue and deepen partnerships with creative story-telling

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience, working with global sports & entertainment properties, leagues, teams/clubs, ambassadors and/or influencers

Other Information

  • Position is based in Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Salary and benefits commensurate with experience
  • Weekend work and some travel will be required
