  • Olympic Team Posters: The September issue of USA Gymnastics magazine included a poster of our bronze-medal winning Men's and silver-medal winning Women's Olympic Teams. Our athletes achieved record-setting success in Beijing and we wanted to celebrate that success with our members. A limited supply of posters is still available. Members may order additional posters for free and only need to cover shipping & handling costs. To order additional posters (limit 2 per order), call the USA Gymnastics webstore at 800-345-4719, Option 1.
  • National & Regional Congresses: Thank you to those who participated (or will be participating) in this year's National and Regional Congresses. The congresses were a success thanks to the tireless volunteers & staff, talented presenters, and committed participants. We hope to see you again in 2009. Dates and locations will be published soon.
  • Club Task Force to meet again in November: The Club Task Force, a group of clubs owners from across the country, are coming to together again in November to continue collaborative efforts with USA Gymnastics on a variety of club initiatives. Background Check verification forms no longer being issued!

Effective December 1st, 2008 USA Gymnastics will no longer be providing background check verification forms to those Professional members who are in a pending status for the background check requirement.

Professional members will NOT be released from pending, and therefore no membership benefits will be released until the final result of the background check screening has been received by USA Gymnastics from the National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI).

Mandatory background check screening went into effect on December 1st, 2007. The verification forms were implemented to allow Professional members to become acclimated with the new membership requirement. The verification forms were only issued to those Professional members who had started the background check process, but the final result had not yet been received by USA Gymnastics.

It is vitally important for those Professional members who have not yet begun the background check process to start immediately. In addition, any new/expired/or lapsed Professional member should begin the process of paying for membership and attaining membership requirements (background check and safety/risk management certification) as soon as possible so that they will not be prevented from participation at USA Gymnastics sanctioned events.

If a current Professional member has not completed the background check requirement by December 1st, 2008, meet directors are directed to not allow these individuals onto the floor at USA Gymnastics sanctioned events.

Any new Professional member will remain in a pending status and therefore be ineligible for participation in USA Gymnastics sanctioned events until the background check has been fully completed.

Please note the normal processing time required for the background check is 3 to 4 weeks. Rush processing is not available.

For more information regarding the background check requirement please click here.

If you have started the background check and have not yet received the results please contact NCSI at 866-833-7100 to inquire of the status of your background check.

PDCP: Women's Level 1-4 Skill Development Course -- Fall 2008

The Women's Level 1-4 Skill Development course is great for all coaches no matter what level they teach. The course includes lecture sessions covering coaching principles, philosophy, communication, organization, and professionalism. The main part of the course focuses on hands-on instruction and review of all of the women's Level 1-4 skills on vault, bars, beam, and floor. During this review the instructor will cover proper skill technique, drills, and progressions. Also included is a spotting clinic for theses skills and more!

This course provides a tremendous educational opportunity for all coaches. Experienced and active competitive coaches, pre-team coaches, and recreational instructors can benefit from the skill reviews, lecture sessions, and other discussions. Novice coaches and teachers can use this education as a spring board for their coaching careers. This is fundamental and important education for coaches and instructors at all levels.

The Women's Level 1-4 Skill Development Curriculum course is a 12-hour course conducted over two days. Currently, there is a course scheduled for November 1 & 2 in Clinton Township, MI. For complete course information or to register, visit our website. Don't miss this continuing education opportunity!

The Women's Level 1-4 Skill Development Curriculum course is a core requirement at Level 2 of USA Gymnastics University as well as the Professional Development Certification Program (PDCP).
