Position Summary
The Chief Programs Officer will provide oversight for all USA Gymnastics (USAG) disciplines and events. This position will report to the President and CEO and be responsible for the overall management of program growth and ensure financial strength and operating efficiency across the disciplines. The position accomplishes this through a respectful, constructive and communicative style guided by the values of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate and lead a high-performance management team across all programs and events
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management that mirrors the mission and core values of the company
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company
  • Spearhead the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes across all disciplines
  • Develop and implement systems and processes that support overall growth objectives
  • Liaise and work with relevant staff members to facilitate developmental and grassroots programs for each discipline
  • Assist in the development and implementation of events and special projects, including the hosting of international events
  • Responsible for overall department budget management
  • Collaborate in a cross-matrixed environment with other departments to identify efficiencies
  • Oversee activation and ancillary activities associated with key events
  • Oversee management of relationships with host venues, convention and visitor bureaus, and sports commissions
  • Ensure compliance with external stakeholders’ rules, regulations, and deadlines
  • Foster and advance relationships with both domestic and international stakeholders
  • Evaluate opportunities and process to add programs/new disciplines
  • Provide risk management to place athlete safety and welfare as the top priority
Requirements and Competencies
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead high performing teams, and to mentor and develop talent
  • Ability to balance and align multiple stakeholder bases with differing perspectives and viewpoints
  • Exceptional written and presentation skills, including strong verbal communication and public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to streamline work processes
  • Deep understanding of the gymnastics disciplines and success criteria for each program
  • Possess personal qualities of integrity, respect, and commitment to the organizational mission
  • Flexible and able to multitask; ability to work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and processes
  • Experience with budget development and management
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 10 years professional experience in sport or related industry and minimum 5 years of team management experience
  • Previous experience in gymnastics as an athlete, coach, and/or administrator
Other Information
  • This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work
  • Domestic and international travel is expected and required
  • Position is based in Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Salary commensurate with experience
