Zeng will compete in ball, clubs finals at Tashkent World Cup

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 20, 2019 – Laura Zeng of Libertyville, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Center, will compete in both the ball and clubs finals tomorrow at the World Cup at the Gymnastics Sports Hall in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Zeng finished in eighth place in the all-around final at the World Cup, which is part of the International Gymnastics Federation’s rhythmic gymnastics World Cup Series. U.S. based fans can follow the event finals action live at 3 a.m. ET or tape-delayed at 6 p.m. ET on the Olympic Channel with a simulcast.

Zeng’s 70.550 gave her an eighth-place finish in the all-around. Russia’s Aleksandra Soldatova won the all-around with her 78.1000, which included the top mark for hoop and clubs. Bulgaria’s Boryana Kaleyn pulled ahead of Russia’s Anastasia Guzenkova for second, 76.500 to 75.500. Lili Mizuno of Northbrook, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, placed 17th at 58.300. Zeng’s individual event scores were: hoop, 17.750 (10); ball, 19.150 (3); clubs, 18.150 (8); and ribbon, 15.500 (9), where she is the first reserve for the final. Mizuno’s event scores were: hoop, 15.950; ball, 12.750; clubs, 15.700; and ribbon, 13.900. Guzenkova posted the highest mark for ball (20.450), and the Ukraine’s Vlada Nikolchenko had the top ribbon score at 18.350.
