USA Gymnastics cancels T&T training camp due to Colorado snow storm
posted on 03/14/2019

Earlier today, USA Gymnastics canceled a U.S. National Trampoline and Tumbling Team Training Camp at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., because of travel complications stemming from the blizzard and snow storm that hit Colorado Springs and Denver yesterday. USA Gymnastics is disappointed about the cancellation, but the safety and well-being of its athletes and the entire delegation of participants are its top priority.

The decision was made based on the available facts and situation.

  • A large number of flights already have been canceled into both Colorado Springs and Denver. Flights could not be rebooked for several days due to the snow storm, the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max 8 planes yesterday, and spring break travel. In addition to athletes and coaches, USA Gymnastics staff and AAI equipment personnel also were unable to travel to Colorado.
  • High winds tipped over one of the equipment trucks this morning, preventing the arrival of some of the equipment in Colorado Springs.
USA Gymnastics regrets that circumstances beyond its control resulted in the cancellation of this camp, but the organization believes this was the best decision for the safety and well-being of its athletes and other participants, as well as the program.
