ANTWERP, Belgium, April 15, 2018 – U.S. champions Emily Davis and Aubrey Rosilier, both of San Antonio, Texas/Acrobatic Gymnastics of San Antonio, finished in fifth place in the women’s pair final at the 2018 World Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships. Today was the last day of the competition that was held in Antwerp, Belgium’s Lotto Arena.

The Olympic Channel will broadcast today’s finals tonight at 8 p.m. ET.

Set to the “The Sound of Silence” by Disturbed, the pair earned a 27.930 for their combined routine. The duo executed a complicated maneuver as Davis spun on one arm, ending in a handstand in Rosilier’s hands. Davis then overarched as Rosilier slid down to the splits.

In the closing moments of the routine, Davis soared high, performing a double back flip off the hands of Rosilier.

The Russian pair of Daria Guryeva and Daria Kalinina took the gold medal with a 29.830. North Korea’s Kum Hwa Jong and Yun Ae Pyon won the silver medal, narrowly beating out Israel’s Mika Lefkovits and Roni Surzon 29.120 to 29.100.

“It went really well,” Rosilier, 18 years old, said afterward. “We did our best routines.”

Davis, a veteran of the 2017 World Games who turns 16 later this year, added, “It was scary, but it’s just fun to perform for everybody.”

The duo, who finished fourth at the World Games last year, said they plan to continue to train together, targeting this year’s World Cup events as their next goal.

“We’re going to try to do all the World Cups for the next two years,” Rosilier said. “And hopefully, next Worlds, we’ll medal in that one.”
