2018 Senior Judges Advisory Council Call for Applications

The Trampoline and Tumbling Judge’s community is looking for qualified individuals to apply for 2018 Judges Council membership. Application Deadline: March 30th, 2018. Application no longer available.

The purpose of the Senior Judges Advisory Council (SJAC) is to educate, train and mentor the judging community ensuring a strong foundation for the T&T Program. The SJAC will exploit its collective national and international experience to build trust and a good working relationship among athletes, coaches and judges. Utilizing a proven system of education and mentorship, the SJAC seeks to bring consistency and fairness to a very subjective sport.

The Senior Judge’s Advisory Council (SJAC) will:

  • Consist of up to 12 Members
  • Develop and educate the Junior Judges Council
  • Provide support and assistance to the T&T Technical Committee
  • Attend national team events as assigned
  • Attend and judge at national events as assigned
  • Provide education and mentorship at the local, state, regional and national level.
  • Must continue to meet Sr Judge’s Council expectations to remain on the Sr Judge’s Council

Expectations of a member of the SJAC:

  • Increasing personal judging knowledge through continuing education and judge’s courses
  • Pursue personal Judges Rating advancement
  • Uphold the highest standards of professional and ethical behavior

Individual criteria for inclusion in SJAC:

  • Must have served or are serving on a T&T committee at the state, regional or national level
  • Must have been actively judging for a minimum of 8 years
  • Must be a FIG Judge in 1 discipline and Category 1 Judge or higher in another discipline for at least 5 years
  • Must have been the Chair of the Panel and/or assigned to an international panel at a National Event.

Benefits of serving on SJAC:

  • Funding may be available to assigned events
  • Increased opportunity for international judging assignments
  • Build and maintain judging excellence at judge’s own club and local level National Recognition of service to T&T community.

USA Gymnastics Trampoline and Tumbling Junior Judges Council (JJC)
The purpose of the Junior Judges Council (JJC) is to target and train new judges to help build a strong foundation for the future of the program. These judges will be mentored by the SJAC to build leadership skills. This process will develop a pipeline of T&T technical experience, knowledge and education.

The JJC will:

  • Consist of up to 12 members
  • Attend National Team events (subject to participant availability)
  • Judge State, Regional & National events (subject to participant availability)

Expectations of a member of the JJC:

  • Availability of service and educational support at local, state and regional events
  • Provide 100 service hours in a calendar year
  • Pursue increase in personal judging knowledge
  • Participate in process of rating advancement
  • Participate in and promote the judges’ continuing education program
  • Be receptive to mentoring as provided by the SJAC
  • Mentor local judges
  • Must reapply each year

Individual criteria for inclusion in JJC:

  • Must be a minimum of Category 1 or higher in one discipline and Category 2 or higher in at least one other discipline
  • Must have been actively judging for a minimum of 4 years
  • Must have judged at a previous National Championships.

The membership of these councils (SJAC & JJC) will be named each year or as needed by USA Gymnastics and inclusion will be based on the needs of the T&T program, existing members and new membership applications.
