U.S. rhythmic athletes competed in France, Greece and Ukraine

Members of the U.S. Rhythmic Gymnastics National Team competed in international tournaments in Thiais, France, Athens, Greece, and Kiev, Ukraine. Below is a summary of Team USA’s results at each event.

Thiais Grand Prix
Individual Results: Qualification | Event Finals
In the individual competition at the Thiais Grand Prix in Thiais, France, 2016 Olympic alternate Camilla Feeley of Highland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, finished ninth in the all-around standings. She earned scores of 16.700, hoop; 14.950, ball; 16.900, clubs; and 15.250, ribbon for a 63.800 total. Russia’s Dina Averina posted a 74.500 to win the all-around crown. Feeley advanced to three finals, taking fifth for ribbon, seventh for clubs and eighth for hoop.

Aphrodite Cup
Junior Results: All-Around | Event Finals
The U.S.’s Shannon Xiao of Fairfax, Va./Gymnastics Worlds, competed at the Aphrodite Cup in Palaio Faliro, just outside Athens, Greece. Xiao recorded a fourth place finish in the junior all-around standings behind scores of 13.350, hoop; 12.450, ball; 12.750, clubs; and 11.150, ribbon. Her all-around total was 49.700. Kazakhstan’s Roza Abitova won the all-around title with a 52.350. In the apparatus finals, Xiao recorded fifth place finishes for hoop, clubs, and ribbon and a sixth place finish in ball.

Kiev Grand Prix and Deriugina Cup
Kiev Grand Prix Results: All-Around | Event Finals
Last weekend, Nastasya Generalova of Los Angeles/California Rhythms, earned a sixth place finish in the all-around at the Kiev Grand Prix in Kiev, Ukraine. Her scores of 15.600, hoop; 16.500, ball; 15.850, clubs; and 14.400, ribbon, gave her a 62.350 total score. Russia’s Polina Khonina took top honors with a 68.800. Generalova also recorded fifth place finishes in three apparatus finals: hoop, clubs and ball.

Deriugina Cup Results: Sr. All-Around | Jr. All-Around | Jr. Event Finals
At the Deriugina Cup, held in conjunction with the Kiev Grand Prix, Brigita Budginas of Agoura Hills, Calif./California Rhythms, won the silver medal in the senior all-around competition (55.900), behind Belarus’ Julia Evchik (64.050). Kazakhstan’s Diana Zvonaryova was third.

In the junior competition, Elizabeth Kapitonva of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora, finished in 11th in the all-around with a total score of 51.850. Anastasia Salos of Belarus won the title. Kapitonova qualified to three apparatus finals, earning fourth place for ribbon, sixth place for ball and eighth place for clubs.
