LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - Two-time National Champion Mary Sanders tops the list of athletes named to the 2003 Rhythmic World Championships Team, named Sunday following a World Team Selection Camp at the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center.

Sanders, 17, will represent the United States for the first time at the World Championships. She is joined by Olga Karmansky, 17, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Lisa Wang, 14, of Buffalo Grove, Ill. who finished second and third, respectively, at the 2003 U.S. Championships.

"It's great honor to be selected to the U.S. World Championships Team," said Sanders, a resident of Toronto, Canada. "First things first, I'm looking forward to competing at the Pan American Games. That will be a good tune-up event. I feel like I'm right on track to peak at the Worlds and enjoy a successful event there, and hopefully next year at the Olympic Games as well."

The top five finishers from the 2003 U.S. Championships were invited to the World Championships Team Selection Camp. The 2003 Rhythmic World Championships are Sept. 24-28 in Budapest, Hungary.

Sanders and Karmansky are en route to compete at the Pan American Games, Aug. 1-17 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Rhythmic competition dates are Aug. 8-10.
