Past USA Gymnastics Board member Ferris died Oct. 7

Ronald P. Ferris, 58, of Youngstown, Ohio died Oct. 7, 2015. He served on the USA Gymnastics Board of Directors from 2004-13, first as a representative for the Amateur Athletic Union, and later as a representative of USA Gymnastics Advisory Council. He also was a member of the Advisory Council as a representative of the Amateur Athletic Union.

Ferris earned his Bachelor of Arts in history from James Madison University, where he was the captain of the men’s gymnastics team. Ferris, the owner and founder of Ohio Gymnastics Institute, served as the Ohio Boys USA Gymnastics state chairman from 1997-2011 and the AAU national sports chair for gymnastics from 2010-13. Ferris is survived by his two sons, Ron and David Ferris; granddaughter, Nina Ferris; a sister, Beth Ferris; and a brother, Gordon D. Ferris.
