Brian Schenk passed away July 20

Brian W. Schenk of Austin, Texas, who was a founder and leader of Texas Gymnastics, died on July 20. A memorial service for Schenk, who was 76, will be held in late August or early September in Austin.

For more than 40 years, Schenk taught at John H. Reagan and Austin High Schools, where he was an active sponsor and advocate for the Student Council. The archives of Austin High were named after him in celebration of his commitment to preserving the school’s history and honoring its alumni.

He also coached and judged men’s gymnastics.

Schenk was honored by the Gymnastics Association of Texas as a life member in recognition of his efforts in founding and growing the organization. He was honored by the Texas High School Gymnastics Coaches Association with the Lifetime Service Honor Award.
