USA wins five medals at Holon Grand Prix

HOLON, Israel, May 20, 2015 – Led by junior all-around bronze medalist Nastasya Generalova of Los Angeles/California Rhythms, the U.S. picked up five medals at last weekend’s Holon Grand Prix in Holon, Israel.

Generalova and Ekatherina Kapitonova of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora, combined for the team bronze medal. In the all-around competition, which determined the team, all-around, and individual event medalists, Generalova posted scores of 15.600, rope; 15.683, hoop; 15.683, ball; and 14.400, clubs, for a 61.366 total. She finished fifth in the overall standings, but won the bronze medal due to the one per country rule. Generalova’s scores earned her the bronze medals for rope, hoop and ball.

Kapitonova was seventh in the overall standings with a 60.299. She earned scores of 15.233, rope; 15.233, hoop; 14.833, ball; and 15.000, clubs.

In the senior grand prix competition, the USA’s Aliya Protto of Culver City, Calif./California Rhythms, posted a 63.450 in the all-around standings after posting scores of 16.500, hoop; 14.217, ball; 16.183, clubs, and 16.550, ribbon.

The U.S. also entered Heather Chan of South Pasadena, Calif./Isadora, and Gabrielle Lowenstein of Huntington Beach, Calif./Eurogymnastics, in the senior tournament, held in conjunction with the Holon Grand Prix. Chan finished sixth in the all-around standings with a 62.666. Lowenstein, due to a one per country limitation, competed hors concours, and earned a 62.484 in the all-around.
