Wisen passes away at 69

Longtime women's gymnastics judge Karen Wisen, born Oct. 20, 1944, passed away in her sleep at home on Monday, April 28 at the age of 69. Wisen judged the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and served on numerous committees within the sport, including the organizing committee for the 1990 Goodwill Games. Members of the public who wish to remember and share memories of Wisen are invited to attend a tribute in her honor, scheduled for Saturday, July 12 at 5:30 p.m. at Emerald City Gymnastics, which is located at 17969 NE 65th St, Redmond, WA 98052.

Wisen, a 2004 inductee into the USA Gymnastics Washington Hall of Fame, served as the Region 2 Technical Chairman for 25 years and earned a Brevet judges rating in the early 1970s.

She is survived by her husband, his son and daughter, daughter in-law and five grandchildren.
